On completing his training at Drama Centre part of which entailed training at the Vahktangov Institute in Moscow and Shakespeare’s Globe in London, Gwilym performed on the London Fringe playing Billy in ‘Five Kinds of Silence’, Leontes in ‘A Winter’s Tale’ and Pentheus in the site-specific and Time Out recommended production of ‘Bachaefull’ . His first professional credit was Odysseus for the London Bubble production of ‘The Odyssey’ in South London parks. Other memorable performances were as Tony MacDonald in ‘A Day at the Racists’ at the Finborough. Moter in ‘Black Light’ for the Tangram Festival of Latin American Theatre and Cyrano de Bergerac at ‘The White Bear’. He played the eponymous Streetwalker in Ozgur Uyanik’s cult horror mockumentary ‘Resurrecting the Streetwalker’ for Scala Films in 2009. He has since performed in two seasons at the RSC – understudying Titus Andronicus for Steven Boxer, and Lord Peersucker for Ian Redford in ‘A Mad World my Masters’ and then as Gratiano in Imran Khan’s production of ‘Othello’ with Lucian Msamati and Hugh Quarshie in the main roles, and Tubal in Polly Findlay’s production of ‘The Merchant of Venice’ for which he also understudied Makram Khoury as Shylock. He then played Ted Narracott in the 10th anniversary UK tour of the National Theatre’s production of ‘Warhorse’.
